Dear June: I guess the Florida climate is more humid than in

Puerto Rico. Here it is more hot (85F to 95F degrees are common during the summer months)and you also has to consider that the heat factor increases at least 10 degrees of the temperature's reading. But most of the time it is dry heat, particularly in the southern part of the island, near the Caribbean. Surfaces of the homes rarely become moldy & that happens in abandoned structures after many years. Could it be the sand & mixture used for buildings? Here in PR, the construction of houses with sand extracted from the sea is prohibited because the iron rods (varillas) that serve as foundation of the constructions will get rusty & will endanger
the homes & buildings.
