June, we understand...

Misc.
Although we are still relatively young, my husband and I, we have had some scary medical issues. We have come thru each and every one emotionally stronger than before. My husband is the first person to tell someone facing the same problems that things will be ok again, and that you really do learn to live with things and enjoy again! Look at us, we are going to Italy next month! Perhaps you and your husband will become rays of light for others going thru the same kind of thing. Sometimes I feel like I should go once a month to my retinal doctor's office to share with the terrified people coming out of his office. They have just been told that they will be having emergency eye surgery tomorrow, no matter if there IS a 19 lb turkey defrosted at their house waiting for the 23+ guests due for Thanksgiving the day after next! Many of these people have absolutely no inkling the day or so before that there was ANY kind of problem with their eyes.)I was so terrified that day I asked the surgeon if I should go buy my tickets to Italy now, while I still had my sight. Because of my experience with three eye surgeries tho, I have been able to soothe the fears somewhat of friends who have faced the same thing in the last three years, just as others who had gone thru it before me comforted and shared with me.My husband boosts the moral of friends and aquaintances going thru knee surgeries, shoulder surgeries, irregular heartbeat treatment and bulged disk problems. He certainly has had to adjust to not being able to do EVERYTHING around our home and is still dealing with having to ask for help. But he is the first to offer help to others and to tell them that there is no shame in asking for help. Many times we have had to make sure we listen to our own advice!! We are so very lucky to have so many second chances, sometimes we just have to remind ourselves of it. It will get better! Know that you are in our thoughts.-Micha
