Dear June, I've been there -- TWICE

Misc.
I am so sorry to learn of what you and your dear husband have been going through. I understand. I had a heart attack and bipass surgery almost 15 years ago and my wonderful DH had a quad bipass about 3 years ago. It feels overwhelming at the time, as you know, but it does get better. You do become accustomed to the lifestyle - believe it or not. It takes a lot of thought to prepare meals but everything that your other friends here at TRL have said is good advice. Do see a dietician for initial advice and direction. This will be a very busy time as your DH goes through his recovery, cardiac rehab, etc. It is very important that you take care of yourself. I can tell you that it is harder to be the spouse than the patient and you can easily become worn out by being the care giver and trying to "do it all".
My love and prayers go out to you and please ask- if I can be of any help to you. God Bless.
