Re:'Baloney' & Kool Aid

Misc.
Hi Kathy:

"Boloney and Kool-aid" - YES! There is/was such a thing(s)!

We used to find an empty canning jar or any 'clean'd out bottle with a lid' fill it with 'Kool-aid', along with a couple of 'boloney' sandwiches on homemade bread and homemade oatmeal cookies, all in a 'store sack' and head for the 'Hut' made with branches and leaves in the woods, or we would 'level out a camp' in an empty field (where the weeds grew over 6 feet high) or 'go down by the spring.'
We would spend 1/2 the day making the 'camp' - have lunch, add the finishing touches, then relax, look at the sky and talk - of many things - while sipping the 'rest of our Kool-aid', until it was time to go home, leaving the camp abandoned - we would need a 'new one' next time, we NEVER used 'old camps'!

We always made sure we got home in time (by my: 1940 Christmas - Westclox 'Big Ben' $1.69 pocket watch - with a shoestring 'watch fob') to 'listen to': Terry and the Pirates, Jack Armstrong, Captain Midnight and Sky King - on the Philco (floor model) Radio at 4:30 to 5:30 PM weekdays and then the "Lone Ranger" after the evening news.

We had great times, without: Big Mac's, T.V., video games or drugs, the most trouble we got into was coming home dirty or being late for 'chores' aside from some things that 'just got broke' - usually by: 'I don't know'

Mom would say:"Look at You!! Go wash yourself OFF and don't do that again"
- is that redundant??

How can, you look at you??
When she says: "Don't you look around when I'm talking to you!"
And if you 'washed yourself off' - you'd disappear and if 'you didn't do 'that again' you would be a: Dirty-non-entity that you couldn't 'look at' anyway! )

That's what Mom's are for!! luv 'em!

"Thanks for the Memories"

I grew up in Kalamazoo, have two daughters, one in Wyoming, and the other in Greenville (both in S.W. Michigan aka the pretty side of the state!) for those who don't know Michigan, where is 'Your' "small town"?)
