re: Fugasa Bread
Misc. With regard to Mr. Painter's inquiry, Fugasa is decidedly NOT an Australian bread. Rather, it is a traditional Argentine sourdough. My wife and I just discovered it this week at the same place, the Village Cafe in Blowing Rock, NC. It is indeed delicious for toast and French Toast, and they make both regular and whole wheat. I have discovered several recipes for this bread online, once I entered "Argentine Sourdough Bread."
One listing referred to it as "Italian Easter Bread," which is totally wrong! Italian Easter Bread is called Columba de Pasqua. Hope this clears up the confusion, and i plan to make some of this bread asap.
