re: Substituting ground beef for tuna in Tuna Helper

Misc.
Hi Cassandra!

I think using ground beef in place of the tuna would work out fine. I would brown the ground beef first because the package directions assume you're using tuna, which is fully cooked. Or, you can make any of the 'Helper' packages without adding meat or fish and serve them as a side dish. If you'd rather use your beef for hamburger patties you can serve them with it that way. If you have some bread that you can turn into bread crumbs and maybe an egg you can make meatballs with your ground beef (mini meatballs would be good). Cook them in a frying pan or bake them on a cookie sheet in the oven and then add them to the noodle mixture after cooking it.

You probably already know this, but when the budget is tight Ramen noodles can be a lifesaver. They're very inexpesive and there are tons of recipes for turnging them into a meal. (Recipes using Ramen noodles)

And here's our: Frugal and Budget Cooking Forum

I hope that's a help. And best of luck to you both!

Happy Cooking,

Betsy
