Regional Pricing -- Any Major Difference?

Misc.

Here in northern CA, food prices are expensive; in southern CA, between 12-25 percent cheaper! What's ironic is that the agricultural area seems to be equally spread between.

I used to watch 'Let's Make A Deal' and I always flunked on food prices, since I was quoting 'our' as opposed to 'their' prices. At that time, a jar of spaghetti sauce was going for $1.69 here, but only $1.39 there (regular price no less).

My sister moved here as an adult with family and said she noticed the prices immediately. Other friends of mine who/ve relocated up here say the same thing.

For example, coatal hot spots like Mendocino ('Cabot Cove' in 'Murder She Wrote') are unbelievably expense; Fort Bragg (yes, there are 2 that I know of), is 30 percent or more less, but it could be due in part to fac that less 'boutique' type towns have major food chains!

Does this method of regional pricing effect any other states?
