WalMart prices

Misc.

A friend of mine went shopping for a Satellite Dish.
Got a price from WalMart 50 miles from home (our nearest big town), went to a WalMart 90 miles from us and they wanted over $100 more for the same system. He told them if they would come down to the other ones price, he would buy from them. Otherwise he would go back to the nearer store and buy it.
They dropped their price!
Sometimes if you are actually in the store, they will be very accomodating. Especially if the item is one that has a large profit margin.
In this area, most stores will honor anyone elses (not just their own chain) advertised price. And if they think you would buy from their competition, they will meet the competitions price.
If your sister had gone in to the local store and personally told them she could (and would) buy the gun case from the other store for $40 less, likely they would have dropped their price.
It never hurts to ask.
As consumers we need to be more agressive about the way we buy. I for one would boycott a store with such a high-handed attitude and let them know why.
Truth is, they don't want to lose customers. We are their bread and butter. Always talk to the manager, never to a clerk.
