As one who was raised on white gravy, made from drippings from any of Breakfast sausage patties, fried chicken, fried steak, or Ham, I tend to agree with you! Where did you have white gravy? (what state?) I think it is more of a southern and midwestern thing. Also I think restaurants tend to make it thicker than than home cooks.
