Dear Vicki!

Misc.

Dear Vicki,
My, I know the condition now of Hinton. It's so sad to see it gone that way. The poverty is horrible! But do know, at one time, and one space in my mind, this town was "heaven" to me. It was the home to all my kin and so full of fun and so much laughter. I do believe I had some of the "Best Times" of my life in Hinton, West Virginia! My grandaddy, Pop Church, would drive us down to the Tastee Freeze, and brought us frozen desserts that we thought were such treasures. He would then put dimes into the pony that rocked for a few minutes, and we would all take turns on the pony and pretend we were rideing a "Wild West Horse".
Hinton lays in the lap of some of the most beautiful country this United States has to offer! I do hope that somewhere along the way, somehow, something will happen to pick the region up and make it vibrant and happy again. I also
know that.....the wonderful mountains and that Greenbrier River will still all be there when that day comes. Umm, but now if only those mountains could talk, and tell the stories that were of life and of happiness that happened in that speck of a place ages ago!

Peace to you Vicki,
David In Virginia
