Starlight Mint Surprises

To all of the starlight mint cookie lovers,
I too grew up with these cookies at Christmas - actually we had two made from the same dough - one made with a mint wafer and another made with a rum flavored wafer - my mom would indicate the difference with a walnut and a silver bead on the mint cookie and just a walnut on the rum - Like all of you, I have been unable to find the wafers for years - Last year I happened to be home in Kansas before the holidays and found mint chocolate chips which I cannot find in my area of NJ - brought them home - my daughter melted them and formed wafers with the melted chocolate - then we put those in the dough - worked just fine - except this year I could not find the mint chocolate chips - thus started my hunt again - Thanks to all for both the Denver contact and Wilton - I think I've ordered enough for at least two years - don't want to take any chances for awhile - Merry Christmas to all. Enjoy those cookies with wonderful memories of past holidays.
