Recipe: Bran Muffins (Oster blender recipe, 1950's)

Breads - Muffins, Quick Breads
BRAN MUFFINS

2 tablespoons shortening
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup bran
3/4 cup milk
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 12 muffin pan cups.

Put the shortening, sugar, and egg into the blender container. Cover and run at Hi Speed until creamy. Add the bran and milk. Blend at Hi Speed.

Add sifted flour, salt and baking powder. Mix at Hi until the flour is barely moistened. Use a rubber spatula to push the ingredients down from the sides of the container when necessary. Fill prepared muffin pans 2/3 full.

Bake at 400 degrees F for 30 minutes.

Makes 12 muffins
