Recipe: Strawberries and Blueberries with Praline Cream

STRAWBERRIES AND BLUEBERRIES WITH PRALINE CREAM

Butter
1/2 cup firmly-packed light brown sugar
2 pints strawberries, washed, hulled and halved
1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
1 cup blueberries
1 cup heavy cream

Preheat broiler.

Generously butter a chilled large cookie sheet. Rub brown sugar through a wire strainer over the prepared cookie sheet to a thickness of 1/8 to 1/4 inch, leaving at least a 1 inch border.

Broil 6 inches from heat until sugar is bubbly, about 1 minute; watch carefully to prevent sugar from burning. Remove cookie sheet to wire rack; cool completely.

Remove praline with wide spatula; break into small pieces; set aside.

Toss strawberries with granulated sugar in a medium-size glass serving bowl; top with blueberries.

Beat cream in a medium-size bowl until soft peaks form. Fold in praline. Spoon over fruit; serve immediately.
