Recipe(tried): Advice on mashed potatoes

Side Dishes - Potatoes
Eight to ten years ago my sister called me on Thanksgiving Day to say hello and found me peeling many, many potatoes--same situation as in this post. I had always loved mashed potatoes and was proud that I had always done them "from scratch." She couldn't believe I was still doing it the old-fashioned way, and told me about Betty Crocker's Potato Buds Mashed Potatoes. I was very skeptical, but after a bit of practice, I was sold! They are WONDERFUL, and I truly can't tell them from the "real" thing. You have to play around with the amount of potato buds vs the rest of the ingredients--I always need more buds/liquid than the package suggests, so if they don't seem quite right, just keep adding buds. I've never made enough for a large crowd, but wouldn't hesitate if needed, though I might do it in two or three batches instead of all in one. I've also had such good luck with this brand that I've been afraid to try anything else, even though it might be cheaper. This may not help you for this holiday, but I know you'll be ecstatic if you try them later.
Best wishes for a happy holiday. K
