APPLE AND PUMPKIN CRISP
4 cups sliced peeled pumpkin
4 cups sliced peeled apples
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
Dash nutmeg
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp cinnamon, divided
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup flour
2 tbsp firmly packed brown sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Combine first 6 ingredients (pumpkin through lemon juice) with 1/4 tsp cinnamon. Spoon pumpkin mixture into a shallow 2 quart baking dish.
Blend together remaining 1/4 tsp cinnamon with nutmeg, butter, flour and sugar until crumbly. Sprinkle over pumpkin mixture; cover with foil.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for 30 minutes longer or until browned and pumpkin and apples are tender.
Servings: 6-8
