Recipe: Apple Bread

Apple Bread

1/2 cup soft shortening
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 cup thick applesauce
2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup walnuts

Mix together shortening, sugar, eggs and applesauce. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Stir dry mixture into wet mixture. Fold in nuts. Pour into lightly greased loaf pan and bake at 350 for 50-55 minutes. Cool 10 minutes and remove from pan. Cool on rack.
