I have tried it and absolutely loved it...I used to make it for sale at craft shows and always sold out. However, use macintosh apples for the apples and the darker maple syrup for the syrup addition. Also, remember that it will darken while cooking. If you are not familiar with "long cook" jams, it will seem like it takes forever! If you undercook it just a bit, it will be more like an ice cream sauce, which is VERY yummy!
