Recipe: Apples Baked in Wine (using orange and brown sugar, crock pot, 1980's)

APPLES BAKED IN WINE

4 Rome beauty or golden delicious apples
1 orange
1/2 cup ros wine
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
1/3 cup light brown sugar
Whipped cream or ice cream (for serving)

Core apples. Peel off a ring around top. Arrange in crockery pot.

Remove 2 strips orange peel with vegetable peeler. Cut orange in half. Squeeze out juice. Add peel, juice, wine, nutmeg and brown sugar to crockery pot.

Cover crock pot and cook on LOW 3 to 4 hours, or until apples are fork tender. Cool.

Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.

Makes 4 servings
