AUNT NEVA AYLOR'S APPLESAUCE CAKE

Note from source: "Neva Aylor of Brightwood was my mother's cousin. We children were taught to call her "Aunt" at an early age. I can remember my mother making this cake when I was a child."

3 cups flour
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter, softened
4 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cups applesauce
1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13x9-inch cake pan or 3 layer cake pans.

Sift dry ingredients together; set aside.

Cream sugar and butter together; add beaten eggs, applesauce, and vanilla. Add sifted ingredients and combine. Place in prepared pan(s).

Bake at 350 degrees F for about 30 minutes or until cake tests done.

Ice with caramel icing and black walnuts.

Hi Brenda,

I haven't tried this recipe but with 4 eggs I think it will make a cake similar to the one you described. I'm posting a couple of possibilities for applesauce frosting/icing in the next message.

Happy Baking,

Betsy
