Recipe: Baked Chop Suey (1934)

Main Dishes - Casseroles
BAKED CHOP SUEY

1 pound ground beef
2 onions, chopped
1 cup chopped celery
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 (10 3/4 oz) condensed can cream of celery soup
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup instant rice (Minute Rice)
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 (16 oz) can bean sprouts
1 (4 oz) can mushrooms
1 (8 oz) can sliced water chestnuts, drained
1 cup Chinese noodles (chow mein noodles)

Brown beef. Place in baking dish. Add onions, celery soups, water, rice and soy sauce. Stir to mix.

Bake at 325 degrees F for 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Add sprouts, mushrooms and water chestnuts. Top with Chinese noodles.

Bake 30 minutes longer.
