Banana Lemon Bread

2 large, very ripe bananas
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg
1/4 cup sugar
1 tbsp lemon zest
LEMON SYRUP
1/3 cup lemon juice (fresh, not bottled!)
1/3 cup sugarPreheat oven to 350F.
Puree bananas in blender. Combine with butter or margarine.
Combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
Beat egg, sugar and lemon peel. Beat in banana mixture. Beat in flour mixture. Turn batter into 9x5-inch loaf pan coated with vegetable spray or oil. Bake in 350F. oven 35 minutes. Cool in pan.
Poke holes in bread with skewer. Pour syrup over top. Let stand 10 minutes. Remove from pan.
