Recipe: Bethany's Christmas Gum Drop Cookies

Bethany's Christmas Gum Drop Cookies
(our youngest child's favorite-Cynthia Bowan)

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/3 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. cut up red and green gumdrops

Cream sugars, shortening, eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and stir well. Stir in nuts and gumdrops (dip scissors blades in flour to make cutting easier). Drop by tsp. on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
