Recipe(tried): Caramel Macaroon Bars

Caramel Macaroon Bars

Bake: 360 degrees F for 20 minutes and again for 25 to 30 minutes
Makes: 9x9-inch pan

1/4 cup melted butter
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
2 cups grated cookie or flaked coconut
1 1/3 cups (14-oz. can) sweetened condensed milk

Combine the first 5 ingredients; blend well. Spread in greased 9x9-, 10x8- or 11x7-inch pan. Bake at 360 degrees F for 20 minutes. Combine coconut and sweetened condensed milk. Spoon over caramel base. Spread to cover. Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until light golden brown. Cool and frost. Cut into small squares.

Caramel Frosting:
Melt 2 tablespoons butter and 2 tablespoons milk with 1/4 cup brown sugar. Stir in 1 cup powdered sugar.
