Recipe(tried): Danish Cheese Pastry using Crescent Rolls - question

I have seen the crescent roll danish cheese several times, tried it and it did not turn out good at all. The cheese part was delicious, but the bottom crust was soggy and did not raise at all and the top crust raised a slight bit. I was really disappointed. What do you think was wrong?
