Recipe: Devil's Food Cake (blender, Mary Dunbar recipe, 1940's)

DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE

1/2 cup salad oil
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 3/4 cups sifted cake flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour two (9-inch) layer cake pans.

Put the first four ingredients in blender container, cover and run on MIX for 20 seconds.

Sift remaining ingredients into mixing bowl. Pour liquid mixture into dry ingredients and stir until smooth.

Pour into prepared pans and bake 30-35 minutes or until done. Cool on racks.

Makes 1 (2-layer, 9-inch) cake
