Recipe(tried): Double-layered half-sheet cake tips

I had a cake decorating instructor who suggested using a lint free towel to "flatten" the top of the cake as soon as it is removed from the oven. This does seem to work. Also, using the Wilton products which you wet, and place around the pan while it is cooking seems to help. I can't think of what they are called.
