Recipe: Easy Steamed Veggies (microwave)

Side Dishes - Vegetables
Steaming vegetables in the microwave is easy and healthy. By using a small amount of water, the nutrients stay in the vegetables, but the vegetables still cook properly.

Vegetable (broccoli, green beans, etc.)
Small amount of water (about 1/4 to 1/2 cup)

Put vegetable and water in a plastic container with lid, or cover with plastic wrap. In either case, leave a small hole for steam to escape.

Different vegetables cook differently, so cook in small segments (30 seconds to 1 minute at time) and keep track of how long it takes for next time.

Be patient and remember to always undercook first; you can always cook for longer. With a little practice, you will discover the easy method of steaming vegetables in the microwave.

Dot with butter before serving.
