Recipe: Golden Apple Crisp (1970's)

GOLDEN APPLE CRISP

8 Golden Delicious apples, pared and sliced
1/2 cup water
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. butter
Whipped cream or ice cream (optional, for serving)

Put the pared and sliced apples into a casserole dish and add the 1/2 cup water.

Mix together the remaining ingredients until crumbly. Spread over apples.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-40 minutes or until apples are tender.

Serve warm or cold with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.
