Hello Norma!
I am not sure if any of the other recipes translate into a hamburger helper type mode, but I have made the following many times, and find it to be even better than the genuine article.
I hope it makes your kids smile--I couldn't miss a chance to make their day!
Ground Beef Medley
Get a great big pan, Norma! This makes more than that skimpy box of stuff! I use an electric frying pan.
1 lb. ground beef
1 finely chopped onion
1 finely chopped green pepper
1 cup uncooked elbow macaroni (I use whole wheat)
1 cup tomato juice
1 cup water
corn, and any other veggies you like, I usually use lots, like celery, carrots, whatever I have on hand. but we like vegetables a lot.
chili powder, salt and pepper to taste.
1/2 package of Lipton onion soup mix
Brown beef in pan, and drain fat. Add onions, green peppers, and any other veggies you are using that might need softening.
Add all spices, stir around for about 30 seconds, then add the liquids and the onion soup mix, and bring to a boil.
Sprinkle the macaroni over top, stir it in, and cover. Lower the heat to simmer.
It will cook in about 7 minutes, check and see at that time if the pasta is done.
Feel free to improvise with the seasonings and ingredients, however it works to your personal taste.
This makes a lot, so bring your appetite.
I hope you and your family likes it!
Regards,
Carolyn!
