Recipe: Ground Beef Reuben Melts
SandwichesGROUND BEEF REUBEN MELTS
1 pound lean ground beef
1/4 cup chopped onion
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup sauerkraut
6 slices dark rye bread, toasted
1/2 cup purchased Thousand Island salad Dressing
6 (3/4 ounces each) slices Swiss cheese
In medium skillet, combine ground beef, onion and garlic; cook over medium high heat for 8 to 10 minutes or until beef is thoroughly cooked and onion is tender, stirring frequently. Drain.
Meanwhile, in small saucepan, heat sauerkraut; drain.
Arrange toasted slices of bread on broiler pan,
Add salad dressing to beef mixture; mix well. Spoon beef mixture evenly onto bread slices. Top each with sauerkraut mixture and Swiss cheese.
Broil sandwiches 4- to 6-inches from heat for 3 to 4 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
