Appetizers and SnacksHAM BALLS
1 1/2 pounds ground pork sausage
1 pound ground ham
2 cups saltine cracker crumbs
1 cup milk
2 eggs
pinch of Accent (MSG)
SAUCE:
1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup hot water
1/2 cup seedless raisins
1 tsp dry mustard
Mix all ham ball ingredients and shape into balls the size of walnuts.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
Mix sauce ingredients and pour over ham balls.
Bake an additional 40 minutes. Stir once or twice during baking. Serve hot.
FRUITED CHEESE BALL
6 oz dried apricots
2 pkg (8 oz each) cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 Cups Monterey Jack cheese, grated
1/2 Cup golden seedless raisins
1 (8 oz) pkg chopped dates
Cream cheese for garnish
Soak apricots for 5 minutes in warm water to cover. Drain and dice apricots; set aside.
Cream together cream cheese and Monterey Jack cheese.
Add apricots, raisins and dates.
Shape into a ball or mound. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Frost with cream cheese and serve at room temperature with saltines or gingersnaps.
This is one we love. I make it often and I feel it would complement your daughter's selection.
