Recipe(tried): Hummus recipe from Arab family
Appetizers and Snacks I have family from the middle east and hummus and pita bread is one of those things we always have in our fridge. I was very interested to see your recipes for Hummus posted. They are very different then what I am used to, but they sound like they are good. They made me feel like my recipe was so plain! Here's my family's recipe.
Hummus
2 cups garbonzo beans (keep water from can or pan)
1 or 2 cloves garlic
2 Tbls Tahini
1 Tbls Olive oil
2 tbls lemon juice
salt, pepper, and paprika to taste
Place all ingredients in blender and mix on a low speed. If hummus is not blending smoothly or at all, add some of the left over garbonzo juice until it is to the consistency you like it.
By the way: I've never actually measured when I've made hummus, so the measurements listed are all educated guesses. If you feel like it doesn't quite taste right, feel free to add more/less of certain ingredients. Lemon juice is one of those things I usually play with.
