Recipe: Ice Cream Maker Tips and Recipes
Misc.Hi Ang,
I don't have the exact instructions for the Quick Chill Ice Cream Maker but I believe it's very in how it operates to the Cuisinart, which I do have.
As you probably remember, you'll need to prepare the freezer bowl by placing in your freezer 6 to 24 hours (or longer), at least until you don't hear anything when you shake the container. I slip mine into a plastic bag before freezing because fingers can get stuck to the frozen metal.
You can use just about any ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, etc. recipe just keeping in mind that your machine holds one quart. The instructions for mine say not to fill more than 1/4-inch from top. If you have mixture leftover you can chill it up to three days and use when your bowl is frozen again. If using a recipe with cooked ingredients, chill the mixture overnight or over an ice bath until completely cooled, before using.
Keep in mind that the bowl thaws very quickly so have your ice cream mixture ready.
Remove the frozen bowl from the freezer, insert mixing arm or blade, set in place on the base (your machine may need the bowl placed before the mixing arm is inserted). Pour in combined ingredients, cover and start. Ingredients such as chips and nuts should be added 5 minutes before the recipe is complete. Nuts and other ingredients should be no larger than a chocolate chip.
Here are some recipes to get you started:
Chocolate Velvet Ice Cream
Homemade Ice Cream (multiple recipes)
Frozen Custard (4)
Raspberry Ice Cream
Sample Recipes from the Ultimate Ice Cream Cookbook
Ginger Ice Cream
Variations: East India Trading Company Ice Cream, Ginger Cookie Ice Cream, Ginger Tea Ice Cream, Ginger Verbena Ice Cream, Pfeffernuss Ice Cream
Mint Ice Cream
Variations: After-Dinner Mint Ice Cream, Grasshopper Pie Ice Cream, Island Mint Ice Cream, Mint-Oreo Cheesecake Ice Cream, Peppermint Candy Crunch Ice Cream
Chocolate Sorbet #1 (Dark and Dense)
Variations: Chocolate Espresso Sorbet, Chocolate Mint Sorbet, Chocolate Nut Sorbet, Chocolate Souffl Sorbet
Happy Cooking!
