Recipe: Macaroni and Cheese Loaf (using deviled ham) (Hamilton Beach Blender, 1950's)

Main Dishes - Pasta, Sauces
MACARONI AND CHEESE LOAF

1 to 2 slices white bread
1 1/2 cups hot milk
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 (4-ounce) can deviled ham
8 ounces Cheddar cheese, cut in 1-inch cubes
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
1/4 small onion
1 pimiento
2 cups cooked, drained macaroni

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.

Break 1 slice bread into 6 pieces and drop into Blender container; cover and run Blender on Speed 4 until bread is finely crumbed. Empty into a measure. Repeat process until 1 cup crumbs are obtained; set aside.

Put hot milk, butter or margarine, deviled ham, cubed cheese and salt in Blender container; cover and blend on Speed 6 until smooth. While Blender is running at Speed 6, add eggs, one at a time, through opening in cover. Stop Blender. Add pimiento and onion; cover container and run on Speed 4 just until pimiento and onion are chopped.

Add cheese mixture to bread crumbs. Stir in cooked macaroni. Pour into a greased 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.

Bake at 325 degrees F for 1 hour or until firm and browned. Cool 10 minutes in pan. Unmold. Serve hot.

Makes 6-8 servings
