I got this recipe over 20 years ago from a friend, Sophia, that I have since lost contact with. Wonder what she is up to now...
O-Henry Bars
6 cups Special K cereal
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup light Karo syrup
1 cup sugar
12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate morsels
12 oz. butterscotch morsels
Place cereal and peanut butter into a large bowl. Set aside. Boil syrup and sugar until clear. Pour over cereal and peanut butter. Mix thoroughly, then press into a buttered 9x13 pan with the back of a wooden spoon. (Because mixture will be very hot.) Sprinkle morsels over and place in oven just long enough for morsels to melt. Spread melted morsels evenly. Let cool and cut into small bars. (I usually chill these to set the topping, then turn out onto a cutting board. I turn them topping side up and use a large sharp knife to cut them into small bars.) Careful, these are addictive!
