Recipe: Original Cheese Steak
Sandwiches Original Cheese Steak recipe
For all the people who can not get to South Philadelphia to get the Original. here is the recipe for you home chefs.
Serves 4
24oz thin sliced rib eye or eye roll steak
6 tablespoons of Soya bean oil
Cheese {we recommend Cheez Whiz } American or Provolone works fine
4 crusty Italian Rolls
1 large Spanish onion
Optional:
sweet green and red peppers saut ed in oil
Mushrooms saut ed in oil
Heat an iron skillet or a non stick pan over medium heat. Add 3 tablespoons of oil to the pan and saut the onions to desired doneness. Remove the onions. Add the remaining oil and saut the slices of meat quickly on both sides.
Melt the cheez Whiz in a double boiler or in the microwave. Place 6 oz. of the meat into the rolls. Add onions, and pour the Cheez Whiz over top. Garnish with hot or fried sweet peppers, mushrooms, ketchup.
PHILLY SANDWICH STEAKS
steaks (1 for each guest)
3 tbsp. butter
Onion, sliced thin
Green pepper, sliced thin
2 tbsp. Parmesan cheese
1 c. Mozzarella cheese, grated
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
Melt butter in large skillet. Saute onion and green pepper just until tender. While onion mixture is cooking, combine remaining ingredients in small bowl. Remove cooked onion and peppers from skillet and set aside. Add steaks and fry on both sides. When steaks are cooked, top them with onions and peppers and then cheese mixture. Cover and cook until cheese is melted. Serve hot on fresh bread or roll.
