Recipe(tried): fix for pears turning pink

Preserving - Fruit
Pink pears are preventable. Dissolve a couple of Vitamin C tablets in water and toss pear pieces in the solution as soon as they are peeled and cut. The pears will not turn pink or brown while cut or in the jar. The solution can be used for the canning syrup and leaves no off flavors whatever.
