Recipe(tried): Pecan Sandies
Misc.Dear Mary, this is an old recipe out of the Charleston Recipts Book.
It was first published around 1952, which is the copy that I have.
This recipe was origionally called "Moldy Mice" nice name , huh??
But, hey, they taste great!! I grew up in Charleston,S.C. and in the bakery
my parents started, these were my favorite cookies, still are!!!
Pecan Sandies
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 TBSP. sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup chopped pecans
powdered sugar( used to roll cookies in )
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the butter, sugar, and vanilla; mix well.
Combine the flour and chopped nuts ; add to butter mixture, mixing well.
Roll dough into small bars about the size of your thumb( or use a pastry
bag and plain round tip and pipe small bars , easier this way).
Place cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a preheated oven 400 F.
for 10-14 minutes or until lightly browned on the bottoms and with firm edges.
Cool 1 minute ; roll warm cookies in powdered sugar, set on wire rack to cool completely. Re-roll cookies when cooled in more powdered sugar. Store air tight.
Enjoy!! see ya'll, ya hear?? lol :0)
