SandwichesPORTABLE DINNER PICNIC SANDWICH
This shared sandwich idea comes from Susan Branch, she suggests serving it with a good red wine, chocolate dipped strawberries and a thermos of iced coffee along with a beautiful sunset!
1 large round loaf of French bread, unsliced
1 garlic clove
Balsamic vinegar
Olive Oil
Salt and pepper
Tomatoes, sliced
Montrachet cheese, crumbles
Cucumbers, sliced
Roasted red peppers, sliced
Carrots, grated
Italian dressing
Hard-boiled eggs, sliced
Grilled tuna or swordfish
Anchovies, mashed
Radishes, sliced
Roasted green beans
Red onion, sliced
Fresh basil leaves or rosemary
Another spoonful of Italian dressing
More tomato slices
Cut bread in half and scoop out some of the bread to make a cavity in each half. Rub the inside of each half with cut garlic and sprinkle with a few drops of balsamic vinegar. Sprinkle generously with olive oil and salt and pepper each side. Began layering in the ingredients in order given, beginning and ending with tomato slices. Wrap sandwich tightly, put it on a plate with a heavy object on top for at least an hour, turning once.
