Recipe: Praline Taffy Apple Pie (using caramels or caramel sauce)

PRALINE TAFFY APPLE PIE

FOR THE TOPPING:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/3 cup flour
1/4 cup butter, melted
FOR THE PIE:
2/3 cup sugar
3 tablespoons flour
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Dash of salt
6 cups sliced, peeled apples
Pastry for double crust pie
10 caramels, unwrapped (or caramel sauce)

Combine brown sugar, pecans, flour and butter; mix well and put aside.

In a large bowl, combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, lemon juice and salt. Add apples to coat.

Put half of the apple mixture in pie crust; top with half of the brown sugar mixture. Top with caramels, then cover with rest of apples, then the remaining brown sugar mixture. Put on top crust and make slits.

Bake at 375 degrees F for 50 minutes.
