Recipe(tried): Re: Ruby Pearls Peaches N' Dumplins

Misc.

Dear Molly;
Thank you so much for your responding to my recipe. It's a good one for sure and those memories that go along with it are priceless.
Now, you said you wanted to know what my most favorite meal was, and I can tell you that I had to sit and think a spell to come up with that one. One thing I do love to do is eat, and comeing from a strong southern background, you can be sure that I've had more than my share of good food over the years.
But, if I had to choose my most very favorite it would probably surprise and hopefully not to let you down, it's just so simple.

Fried Chicken dont the right way, with a crispy coating and tender juicy
meat on the inside, delicious right down to the bone.

A big old bowl of mashed potatoes, with a ton of butter on top, and a big
bowl of chicken gravey, that has all those little crispy leftovers from
the chicken frying in it.

A big bowl of green beans, cooked up with salt pork till they are done so
limp and delicious.

A big plate full of home grown tomatoes, sliced thick, and salted and
peppered up, and then a sprinkle of sugar on top of them to cut the
acidity.

A big old pan of homemade yeast rolls, and butter, and Granny Church's
Black Raspberry preserves to go with em.

And, a bowl of cucumbers 'n onions in vinegar'sugar water, and a big ole
handful of icecubes put on top to make em crispy. With that little
sprinkle of salt and pepper on top to make the flavor real good.

And for dessert, a slice of Granny Church's Butterscotch pie!

All this has to include two other important components. Tons of sweet icy
cold glasses of ice tea, and the right people to sit down and enjoy it
with. Ya jus gotta have the right friends who can sit down, and you can
share and laugh and giggle, and tell the stories that well all tell.

Yes, I had this meal more times than I can remember, and I hope you like
what it is.

Thanks for asking, and take care my friend.

Your friend,
David In Virginia
