Recipe: Red-Hot Cinnamon Apple Cobbler (using cake mix)

Desserts - Fruit
RED-HOT CINNAMON APPLE COBBLER

1 tablespoon red hot cinnamon candies (or 1 teaspoon cinnamon)
6 medium apples, peeled, cored and sliced ?-inch thick
1 (2-layer size) box yellow or white cake mix
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, melted
Whipped topping or cream (optional)

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Dissolve the candies in 1 cup boiling water.

Place apple slices in an ungreased 9-by-13-inch pan. Pour the flavored water over them.

Combine the dry cake mix, brown sugar and melted butter in a large bowl. Mix well with a fork; it will be crumbly. Sprinkle mixture over apples.

Bake 50 to 55 minutes, until lightly browned.

Serve with whipped topping and garnish with additional hot candies if desired.

Makes 16 servings
