Recipe(tried): Russian Bakery Cake

There was bakery in Houma called "Your Just Desserts" that made an excellent russian cake. I heard they went out of business, but the trimmings that are soaked with rum and raspberry/cherry preserves and pressed into a loaf pan will do quite nicely. I used to make a Sarah Berhardt that was similar, but it used a yeast-based cake and was not pressed but from trimmings.
It was topped with a fluted bundt cake that had fresh sliced straberries in the center hole and whipped creamed piped along the edges...
