Recipe(tried): Stuffed Sweet Peppers

Stuffed Sweet Peppers

4 medium green or red peppers**
1/2 cup onion, chopped
2/3 cup uncooked rice
2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 tsp basil
1 tsp oregano
1 large can of tomatoes, cut up and undrained
1 cup water
1 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground pork
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 clove minced garlic (optional)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In a large frying pan, cook pork,beef,onion, and garlic until the meat is brown and the onions are tender. Add tomatoes, water,basil,oregano,rice,worcestershire sauce,salt and pepper to meat; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes or until rice is tender. Stir in 3/4 cup of the cheese.
Place green peppers in a baking dish and fill the peppers with the meat and rice mixture. Bake for 15-20 or until heated through. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on tops and serve hot.

**Wash and remove seeds and membranes from each pepper. Place the peppers in boiling water and boil for 3 minutes. Remove the peppers and drain on paper towels.
