Yocco's Hot Dog Sauce
rec.food.cooking/Phil (2002)
This is from "Yocco's the Hot Dog King".....which is the hot dog shop (now expanded) that has been around for over 75 years. We eat their sauce on dogs, burgers, sausage sandwiches (made with smoked sausage)....and there is burger in it, but you can either run it thru the processor when cooked or keep chopping it up in the pan because it's not supposed to look like burger.
l lb. ground meat
l medium onion
3 tbsp. chili powder
l tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. oregano
3/4 tsp. cumin
l/4 tsp. red pepper flakes
2 cups water
Brown meat (breaking up pieces) and onions, drain. (At this point you can run it thru a little chopper if you want it smaller). Add spices - mix well. Add water and simmer one hour. Can be frozen.
