ISO: Jeanne...re: Louis Pappas restaurant and salad
Misc.I have looked at the Louis Pappas website and it tells that the restaurant was sold in 2002. The grandson is now running seven new restaurants in the Tampa/St. Pete area with an updated and "faster" cuisine. The corporate offices are still in Tarpon Springs but no restaurant is listed for there. The new restaurants still sell some of the old favorites including the famous Greek salad and a recipe is listed on the web site. It lists 2 cups of finely chopped onion and 1 cup of finely chopped scallions which is a bit different that the recipes in "Tampa Treasures" or the "Gasparilla" cookbooks (I have both). It is my recollection that the potato salad was quite plain but with all the other adornments it is yummy. I would have liked to have gone back to the old place too but alas, we are too late.
