ISO: Oreo Cookie Pops question - my oreos keep cracking

I wanted to make these for easter class party but when i try to insert the sticks in the cookie middle they keep cracking....and I did buy the doublestuff oreos . I have tried with both popsicle sticks and sucker sticks. Is there some trick to this
