ISO: REQUEST: Need food ideas for a sickly senior

Hi All,

I've taken over cooking for my mother who is in very poor health, frail and elderly. She has been hiding from us for months the fact that she's not eating because she's afraid we'll put her in a nursing home. It all came to a head at the ER last weekend, so suffice it to say I'll be monitoring her food and meals. She has numerous respiratory and digestive problems, including a bowel obstruction and hiatal hernia. I have started her off with very simple and light soups. If anyone has any ideas on what seniors can tolerate, or anyone with digestive problems can tell me what definitely NOT to cook, I'd appreciate your input. I plan to meet with a dietician, but I'd like some practical tips from anyone who has experience in this. Thanks!
