That's true, Sal & Smitty were not related at all. I worked at the West Ave Star Market and Smitty used to sample his product in store. (back in '82).Sal's was great too. He would place a slice of stale bread beneath your chicken to soak up the excess sauce. It was always funny to watch the first timers try to eat the bread, yuk!lol. Before I moved away, I heard an ex employee of Smitty's came up with "Boss sauce". Haven't tried it but I heard that it wasn't as good.
