Thank You: Sneezy Kitties

Misc.
I stumbled onto this line while just looking around, and hope you do not mind the intrusion.
I have cats. Last week I counted 17.
6 of them are mine, the others are just visiting until they have been fixed, and ready to move to a new home.
(2 females that were pregnant - now w/ babies)
Anyway.........
One of my cats began the sneezing & bad goober eyes...Vet told me there is a disease that is hereditary that causes this. I am not sure but I think it could be spread by contact. Anyway, he told me to use erthymacin salve on the eyes and gave me keflex pills (4 at $3 each) and she got a shot - the vaccination for this. This shot is supposed to be given with all the other yearly vac's.
Now if one gets sneezy I use warm saline water (cheap contact eye wash) and CLEAN cloths (old baby diaper cut into small squares) be sure to use only once - stopping spread. My family Dr and I have land that is beside each other where are horses are, and my cats are in his barn a bunch. Told him what the deal was when he did not see them. Last time I was in he wrote me a script for Keflex - 80 ct. He said hay cutting season was starting soon and he knew how often get sick with a sinus infection... Took it to Walmart and filled it for $8 co-pay.......
I keep them in the pantry in the laundry room. If I hear sneezing, 1 pill opened into 1/2 can food, 1 tsp to a cat, for 3 mornings and everyone is up and fine....
Before she charges you for surgery, check with another vet about this virus thing that needs a vac.
Great deal cheaper, and Keflex is given for sinus problems....
Wish the best to you!
